San Juan Island is a year-round biking destination. Many people visit specifically to peddle the miles of quiet country roads winding along the coast, through forests and past scenic San Juan Island farmlands.
Road and Mountain Bike Rentals
Island Bicycles, just a few blocks from The Island Inn at 123 West, offers a fleet of well-maintained bikes for all styles of peddling, as well as San Juan Island biking maps and advice. Call ahead to rent at 360-378-4941. They can also help with spare parts and repairs on your own bike.
Moped Rental
If you’re not sure you’re ready to tackle the island by bike, moped rental is a great alternative. Susie’s Mopeds offers a great range of mopeds, including a very popular two-person moped with side-by-side seating.

- The Island Inn at 123 West offers secure bike parking in our gated garage.
- Bicyclists are charged the same as foot passengers on the ferry, which is practically nothing.
- Island hopping between San Juan, Orcas and Lopez islands by ferry, with or without your bike, is totally free.
- If traveling by bike, be sure to stay in town so you don’t have to pedal home to bed after dark with a full stomach and a light head.
